As some may have noticed, I have recently retired a couple of sections of this site, namely those brigades that had not been active for a long time.

It was sad to see the closure of Battlefield, World In Conflict and Call Of Duty sections but, as they were dormant or dead I felt it was time to make way for newer bigger things.

Well, the MPAA have recently announced that they would be bringing suite against torrent tracker sites such as ISOhunt, torrentbox and a number of other tracker sites which form the backbone of the edonkey, bittorrent and newsgroup trackers. As a result, the ed2k server lists have been closed and all those who used these services to distribute their own material for which they are the copyright owner have been again dissadvantaged by the never ending greed of big business which seeks to monopolies entertainment on all levels and make billions of dollars a year by overcharging for mainstream music and movies and controlling the way distribution and consumption of entertinment products is handled.

As a musician, p2p tracker sites are the base way that I was able to share my work and have it distributed on a global scale and multinationals now seek to basically destroy anyone providing these services due to the large number of copyrighted materials that is made available through torrents. With box office takings ever growing, movies and music discs available at an ever increasing cost that does not reflect the cost of manufacture and distribution, but instead indicative of the hunger for higher returns for company shareholders who for the most part have nothing to do with the entertainment industry besides it absolute exploitation.

QUOTE
STUDIOS MOVE TO THWART ILLEGAL FILE
SWAPPING ON MAJOR PIRATE NETWORKS
MPAA Companies Take Action Against Torrent,
eDonkey and Newsgroup Sites Used by Millions
Los Angeles-- The Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) on behalf of the
major motion picture studios today filed seven lawsuits in federal courts across the
country against highly trafficked Torrent, eDonkey and Newsgroup websites that are
responsible for facilitating illegal swapping of copyrighted files between millions of users
around the world. They provide a massive directory of illegal content to users and
encourage people to traffic in copyrighted motion pictures, televisions shows, music,
software and games. Torrentspy.com and Isohunt.com are two of the most popular
sites used for finding pirated content. By taking action against these sites today, MPAA
aims to build on its effort to shut down major pirate networks by thwarting their supply of
illegal materials and their means of distribution.
“Website operators who abuse technology to facilitate infringements of
copyrighted works by millions of people are not anonymous – they can and will be
stopped,” said John G. Malcolm, Executive Vice President and Director of Worldwide
Anti-Piracy Operations for the MPAA. “Disabling these powerful networks of illegal
file distribution is a significant step in stemming the tide of piracy on the Internet.”
These sites are sophisticated enterprises designed to make vast quantities of illegal
content available with a single click of a mouse. Torrentspy.com boasts over 48,300 files
of movie and television shows available to users, and divides its available movie content
by genres, and even includes movies illegally camcorded in a theater (“cam”) as a
subcategory. Torrentbox.com, working in conjunction with Isohunt, boasts of enabling
over one million illegal downloads of Fantastic Four and over 4.4 million downloads of
Alien 2.
Today’s lawsuits mark the first time the MPAA is taking action against sites that enable
users of Newsgroups to easily find and download illegal content. Newsgroups are
electronic bulletin boards which in recent years have become a major source of pirated
content as users are able to attach movie, music and games files to their messages.
The following is a list of the sites being sued by the MPAA and its member companies.
Torrent Sites
Isohunt.com, BTHub.com and TorrentBox.com: These related Torrent sites facilitate
downloads of over 140,000 content items, including popular movies and television
shows such as Wedding Crashers, Lost and Desperate Housewives.
TorrentSpy.com is the world’s most-visited site for obtaining infringing content using
Torrent software. The site offers over 160,000 content items including 27,182 movies,
21,130 TV shows and over 45,000 music items.
NiteShadow.com has over 24,000 registered members and offers over 1,000 sciencefiction
TV and movie content including Battlestar Galactica, Quantum Leap, Sliders,
Stargate, Babylon 5 and multiple Star Trek series.
eDonkey
Ed2k-It.com is a leading eDonkey site, with over 46,000 registered site members.
eDonkey sites provide easy one-click access to specific content items on their peer-topeer
network.
Newsgroups
NZB-Zone.com, BinNews.com and DVDRs.net are membership-based websites that
enable users of Newsgroups to initiate easy downloads of infringing content. NZB-Zone
offers over 3.3 million files, including Star Wars Episode III, Wedding Crashers,
Chronicles of Narnia, 40 Year-Old Virgin and King Kong; BinNews.com offers files for
over 3,000 movies; and DVDRs.net has over 37,000 members.
Today’s lawsuits are part of MPAA’s international campaign against online piracy which
has experienced some significant victories as of late. Last week the server facilitating
one of the largest Torrent sites in the Netherlands, Dikkedonder, was shut down and on
Monday, Belgian and Swiss authorities shut down Razorback2 -- the number one
eDonkey server in the world which facilitated the illegal file swapping by approximately
1.3 million simultaneous users. The MPAA’s strategy focuses on all levels of Internet
piracy to cut off the major suppliers of illegal files and at the same time curtail facilitation
of illegal file swapping by peer-to-peer networks. Approximately 75 Torrent and
eDonkey sites have been shut down in the last year as a result of these efforts.
The MPAA and its member companies have a multi-pronged approach to fighting piracy,
which includes educating people about the consequences of piracy, taking action
against Internet thieves, working with law enforcement authorities around the world to
root out pirate operations and working to ensure movies are available legally using
advanced technology. The MPAA estimates that the film industry lost approximately
$3.5 billion to movie piracy in 2004, a total that does not include losses due to Internet
piracy. According to a study by Smith Barney, predicted losses were $5.4 billion in 2005
when including Internet piracy.

The owners of these trackers sites have been in contact with the EFF to assist in the facilitation of fighting the legal proceedings, and have stated that provided with a complete list of titles to enable filtering of torrents that the MPAA owns copyright on, they would be able to prevent material they own being distributed, but unfortunatly the MPAA have stated that although the list is impossible for them to create due to the high number of copyright titles, the torrent sites should be able to track and filter out the same list that is impossible to make, which is basically retarded.

Let us hope that this is not the end of p2p networks and trackers for the loss of their legitimate use is the equivalent of returning to the digital stone-age of information distribution. Whats next, well, I'll keep you posted. But now you know why your favorite file share program is no longer running as it should.

On a side note, torrents of copyrighted materials like movies etc have been left up in some cases and generally are fake links, possibly for the use of the MPAA to collect logs allowing them easy tracking of single users who are attempting to download copyright materials so in the future they can use the logged ip address to facilitate legal proceedings against those who are trying to download. Just another way big brother is trying to strip away your right to privacy and illegally collect information about you without your consent. Ironic isnt it.

4 years ago, a small group of happy wanderers set out on a magically journey full of peril, danger and wonder. Into the wilderness of cyberspace they trudged ever onward til they came upon a clearing. Nestled amongst the evergreen porn industry and corporate advertisments they set up camp. After a bref recon of the terrain, the baby-faced Happyman set out to find wood and cattle, the young Fletch the fierce warrior began constructing towers, Flames..well....set fire to things, Mondane and Silver set about training the local buffoon peasantry while the wise Fluid toiled over digital parchment, scribing the mystical invisions powerboard enchantment.

By morning their task was complete and by the dawns light, they could see their work coming to fruition. Happyman stepped forth and proclaimed, "I dub thee ANZAC CLAN and so it shall be known. You shall no longer call me Happyman. From this time on, I shall be known as the ANZAC_SPIRIT", and all rejoiced.

Travellers from near and far came to sell their wears, hone their skills and in due time fight along side the young brigade, for the Age of Kings was upon them at last and there was noobians to be trushed far and wide. Many months into the ever-waged war, Germanic rogues crept into the fortress late one evening and set the sql database ablaze with fiery wrath. This may have spelled the end for the ANZAC CLAN if not for the determination of those around.

A new settlement was forged on the unstable ground known only as Fluids harddrive but the ground proved rocky and unsuitable so again the ANZAC's, now numbered in the hundreds, picked up camp and again began anew. The market was hungry and a new alliance was forged inviting all around to come and share their follies. It was known as the land of ATG and it was here that new found wars began. The Call Of Duty and Battlefield of Vietnam built the ANZAC warriors into a steadfast machine until descent in the rank caused a disruption between power hungry officers and the core founders. When the dust settled, the Call Of Duty had faded away.

It was around this time that a young minstral named Jynx, later to be dubbed Rooster, stepped forth from the ranks of html and with creative flare began to decorate the halls of ANZAC and under the guideance of the dark php mage Fluid, learn the art of the code. By this time, ATG had begun to attract all manner of travelling clans, but ANZAC had decided that the ATG lands were crowded and for a forth time, set off to build anew.

The land they found was rich, Total War with Rome was near, the recently failed incursion with the prussians of Cossack had proved no small feet, again the Call OF Duty 2 had summoned new players into thier midst and they drank mead and all were merry....for a time. Newly appointed administrators of the court of ANZAC had again grown power hungry and set out to destroy ANZAC. Those who had witnessed the end of days of the Call Of Duty warriors patiently sat back and again waited for the rising storm to pass, and it did pass. Again the light shone down upon ANZAC and there was much rejoicing.

The second Battlefield, known to historians simply as the Battlefield 2, was a somewhat short lived crusade, to due poor management of resources and the corruption that was ingrained in the very programming of the campaigns maps but was shortly followed by a new architectural design improvement. The castle of ANZAC was demolished and rebuilt anew with these new techniques but in the reconstruction, many lives were lost and only the bravest stood fast and steady.

And so as the ANZAC again mustered up the resources at their disposal a new age of mechanical flying machinery, vessels from beyond the stars and from beyond the bondarys of time itself was pulled through a gateway. This was the era of warfare from opposing militant forces, swept back through time form the year of 2142 all the while new weaponry that rained fire from the heavens brought a World In Conflict to the door of ANZAC. For them, this would pass swiftly in the night as the war was swept away by, but the weapons remained and the Nukezone age was here...

So its was told and so it shall be written.

And every word is the truth. Happy Birthday ANZAC

ANZAC IMAGE UPLOADS
I have just finished installing an ftp portal so you may now upload your images to the site and then use the relevant link to add your images in your posts or sigs instead of using photobucket, etc. Please do not use the site as a host for images you want to link to offsite as this will just slow things down here.

Anyone who is found to be linking images from here into other sites will have access removed. Anyone who posts porn, offensive, derogitory materials will also lose access. Anyone who, yada yada yada yada...just play nice

> Starcraft 2
Posted by ANZAC_RQQST3R - 09-15-07 08:15 - 11 comments

Ooooh baby, if there's one sequel that will never live up to the expectations of fanboys it'll be this, hoo-boy.

Starcraft 2's Official Website

StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival.
Featuring a unique single-player campaign that picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. In addition, Blizzard will again offer unparalleled online play through Battle.net, the company's world-renowned gaming service, with several enhancements and new features to make StarCraft II the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.
Features:
Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the magic of the original game Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg New units and gameplay mechanics further distinguish each race Groundbreaking single-player "story-mode" campaign Vibrant new 3D-graphics engine with support for dazzling visual effects and massive unit and army sizes

What we know so far:
  • No release date
  • No CPU Requirements
  • No beta date
  • Only 3 playable multiplayer races
Protoss:

A new general ability for Protoss. Upgrade is made through the Gateway(aka Barracks), allows you to teleport pre-made units to any area that your psi-field covers(ie wherever your pylons or deployed phase prisms are).

Zealot:

Same ole zealot that we all know and love with a difference, it can now charge enemies, this charge has a cooldown and looks like it's an automatic passive thing when it closes in on units.. My life for Aiur!

Immortal:

The new dragoon. The spindly phase disruptor is replaced by 2 cannons now and they now have a shield sort of like the ones seen in Star Wars Phantom Menace. This allows them to take like zero damage from siege tanks but get raped by stuff like reapers or zerglings.

Stalker:

The other new dragoon! The Dark Templar made their own it seems, anyways this is more along the lines of the original in that it fires small bursts and walks like a spider and has no weird energy shield. On the other hand it can freaking blink aka. teleport! It blinks a short distance away so it's very effective in chasing down fleeing terrans.

Phase Prism:

Picture shows a deployed version. Effectively a transport + mobile pylon. When deployed it acts as a pylon in case yours get destroyed and you've got like 10 photon cannons that ain't working. It also acts as a shuttle.

Warp Ray:

Also seen is a battlecruiser and another unknown terran ship. These warp rays do more damage when they're all targetted on one unit/building. Doesn't work very well against small frys like space marines.

Phoenix:

Think valkyrie from Brood War. Basically AA unit, it also has a deployed mode called Overcharge or something where it overloads and starts firing at all enemy units really rapidly. But once it stops it just stops. Can't move, can't attack or anything, so it goes "inert" for maybe 5-10 secs.

Colossus:

Think Star Wars + War of the Worlds. These also ignore terrain height differences and can walk up or down cliffs. They absolutely rape stuff like zerglings.

Mothership:

If any of you have played Dawn of War, think the Chaos Marine super unit. You can only build one of these tanks and it most probably requires a shitton of resources and a long long techtree. They can attack multiple units simultaneously and it has 3 abilities. Time Bomb, Planet Cracker and Black Hole. Planet Cracker is seen in the pic and resembles the Independence Day poster. Time Bomb = Neo from Matrix:Reloaded. Basically it stops all missiles in it's time field and when it's over they just drop to the ground. Black Hole is exactly that, you cast a black hole in the middle of a bunch of battlecruisers and they get sucked in wherein they can't attack or move while being sucked in and eventually just "pop" away.

Terran:

Overall their buildings look like plastic toys.

Reapers:
Think Halo Spartan + dual pistols and a jetpack. Like the colossus they ignore terrain differences and can fly off or fly up cliffs.

Space Marines:

Found 2 likely candidates. One of them have weird shields and the other have weird silver shoulder-guards. Has to be one or the either, can't be both.

Siege Tanks:
Now look like vacuum cleaners!

Zerg:

Zerglings:
Can now evolve into Banelings. The ground counter-part of the scourge or similar unit to that of the infested terran. Think suicide bomber SWARM. GG rush.

Mutalisks:
Their glaive animation is different and is now just a green circle that bounces around.

Nydus Worms:
Nydus Canals + Star Wars + Tremors. Basically large worms that don't need creep and pop out of the ground and spew out lots of zerglings.

Movies:
Cinematic Movie
Artwork Movie
Youtube Gameplay Movie Part 1
Youtube Gameplay Movie Part 2
Youtube Gameplay Movie Part 3

In closing. En Taro Tassadar!

Edit: I notice all the images are fucked up.

> Final Fantasy XII
Posted by ANZAC_RQQST3R - 09-15-07 08:13 - 0 comments
Final Fantasy XII

This game was released on March 16, 2006 in Japan. The North American release is scheduled for October 2006. The European, and Australian releases are unknown at this time. Though not a direct sequel to any previous Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy XII features several concepts introduced in the Final Fantasy Tactics series. Final Fantasy XII has references to Final Fantasy: Tactics Advance in the form of summon creatures. Famfrit, Exodus, Adrammelech, Ultima and Mateus are all Totema in Final Fantasy: Tactics Advance. These are powerful creatures that protect the 5 crystals of Ivalice (which, upon closer inspection, bear the FFXII Zodiac sign of the Totema in question). Final Fantasy XII also has references to the PSX title "Final Fantasy Tactics", predecessor of FFTA, in the form of summon creatures. Scorpion's Queklain, Aries' Belias, Gemini's Zalera, Capricorn's Adrammelech, Leo's Hashmalim, and Virgo's Ultima are all names of the Lucavi demons found in FFT. The tradition of assigning a certain Esper to a specific zodiac sign in Final Fantasy XII originated in Final Fantasy Tactics as well.

Like previous games of the Final Fantasy series, combat is menu-based. However, unlike the first ten games of the series, it adopts a battle system similar to that of Final Fantasy XI where combat takes place on the same screen as regular exploration (in a Chrono Trigger fashion), with a seamless transition from exploration to combat mode. Combat unfolds in real time, using a new battle system called active dimension battle. There is also not a different musical score during combat; the track that is played during exploration will be heard throughout the battle as well. The traditional fanfare featured in all Final Fantasy titles reappears after dungeon bosses along with a Congratulations text. The player may assume control of any of the three characters in the battle party at will and issue commands for the characters at any time.

Another innovation introduced to FFXII is the Gambit System; a new type of AI which works similar to an easier version of programming language. Using a set of pre-programmed commands, a player is able to set specific reactions to battle for each character. Each Gambit consists of two component variables: a target, and an action. For example, the game initially gives players two commands for use in their Gambit instructions. One reads, "Leader's enemy: Attack" and the other reads "Party member [HP less than 70%]: Cure". The Gambits are listed in order of priority, and changing their order in the list will cause the character to act differently. If the first command is "Leader's enemy: Attack" and the second is "Party member [HP less than 70%]: Cure", the character will attack with the party leader as long as they are engaged in battle. Once the party leader's target has been eliminated or the leader disengages from battle, the second command will come into play. If any party member is below 70% health, the character with the aforementioned Gambit will cast Cure on them. Different battle procedures would follow if the two commands were switched around, as the character will cease their attack and cast Cure on any party member with less than 70% health, and then resume attacking once all party members are at 70% health or more. There will be many different Gambits in the game to facilitate choosing any specific target, friend or foe, and then performing any action on it. Each character has a maximum of twelve available Gambit slots, which must be unlocked one at a time on the License board. Gambits are most often bought in Gambit shops, but they can also be found in chests.

Learning and using abilities (magic spells, use of equipment, special skills, HP bonuses etc.) is done via the new License system. Each playable character begins with their own License Board, which looks like an oddly shaped chess board. The squares on the board contain various abilities which the character may use. Basically, one character's Board is split into two different parts with no intersection. The upper one contains Magical, Stats-raising and other character-specific abilities, while the bottom one is largely filled with Equipment Licences. Mist Knack(Limit Breaks of former titles) abilities are scattered randomly across both Boards. Every single character gets a starting point on each of the two. In order to learn an ability, the character must first spend the required amount of LP (License Points) to permit its use. LP are earned in battle along with the usual experience points. When a square is activated, any empty squares adjacent to it also become available for activation. A square cannot be activated if there are no activated squares adjacent to it. While similar in some ways to Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid, the License Board allows far more freedom; there are no restrictions on how the player may develop their characters. In practice, the License Board system is simply another in a long line of previous systems where ability points are earned and exchanged for new abilities.

As for summons, they are similar to how they were used in Final Fantasy X, summon spells become active participants in battle, replacing the rest of the party for a set time; unlike Final Fantasy X however, the summoner remains an active member in the fight, instead of standing back to command the summon from afar. While the summon is present, the Summon command in the menu becomes the Dismiss command, which the player can use to send the summon away at any time. The summon will remain in the party for a limited time, indicated by a row of spheres that gradually disappear over the course of a minute or two. If the summon survives until the time limit reaches zero and is not dismissed by the player, it will perform a very powerful special attack before leaving the party. The player can use curative magic and items to aid the summon. Summons are controlled by A.I. and cannot be controlled by the player. However reports from many gamers seems to hold the thought that summons are pretty much useless in FFXII.

Here is a small clip of one of the summons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gCXQnXbVMM

Final Fantasy XII takes place mostly in the kingdom of Dalmasca, a small city-state in the world of Ivalice. A neutral party in the past wars between its neighboring kingdoms of Archadia and Rosaria, Dalmasca was ultimately conquered by Archadia and reduced to the status of an occupied state under Archadian rule. Vaan, a street urchin living in the Dalmascan capital of Rabanastre, joins the underground Dalmascan resistance movement and participates in an assault on the royal castle, now occupied by Archadian troops. His involvement in the attack eventually brings him face to face with Ashe, the deposed princess of Dalmasca and the leader of the resistance faction. Vaan may represent your party when you are in town, but he is the main character in no other way, Ashe is. Even then, there is almost no real focus on the characters themselves but rather the events and storyline of the game. Other major characters include Balthier, Fran, Penelo, Basch, Reks, Larsa Solidor (known as Ramon when traveling incognito among the common folk) and Vayne Solidor, the royal heir of Archadia, regent of Dalmasca, the Judges' commanding lord, and Larsa's elder brother.

Archadian Judge Masters, leaders of the Judges who first appeared in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, are featured prominently in the story. They are the supreme enforcers of Archadian law, and number five total: Gabranth, Ghis, Drace, Zargabaath, and Bergan.

Whereas most of the titles begin with something of a bang and are quick to get to the core of the conflict and reveal who is the enemy, Final Fantasy XII simmers slowly along smoothly to a boil in a slower and more distinctive fashion. Instead, Final Fantasy XII focus on human versus human conflict in a more realistic fashion. Political machinations, themes betrayal, even coping with death are just a few of the facets that give this iteration of the series a much darker and mature tone that packs a punch in terms of presenting a complex and deeper storyline. Forget the whiny characters ala Tidus, forget the moody ones ie. Squall and forget the feeling of angst being shoved down your throat.

As for feedback on the game. It has been pretty good, being rated 9/10 etc. It's highest accolade however is the fact that it received a 40/40 score from the japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. Famitsu is notoriously harsh with its grading of videogames and Final Fantasy XII is now the 6th game ever to be given the 40/40.

Here is the trailer with the english voice acting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r0L6gkb1u0

[attachmentid=448]
In true morrowind style, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is absolutely massive. A dedicated RPG where your every action increases your skills, whether it be casting magic, swords skills or running and jumping to increase athletic ability. [attachmentid=449] So many games allow you to increase your skills without practise, but ES series only improves your every skill when you practise them. Choose your class from the imperials, bretons, kahjits catlike races or reptilians, sculpt every curve of your players face from brow line to jaw shape and then begin your quest into the wilderness. ES IV begins in a small jail cell and when the King is attacked by assassins, you must accompany him through the secret escape route from the cell your contained in down into the sewers. Its is here you will, through interaction select your brith sign, class and place of birth, all of which determine your development in a set of major skills. [attachmentid=450] You could select to become a mage and then equip a sword and shield, but without using your mage skills you would never continue that path or improve your magical ability. As you travel through morrowind, you will require a skill set as diverse as any, from bartering skills to being able to pick locks and sneak, archery to blunt weapon and heavy armour. Base skills like Alchemy begins with adding ham and cheese to bread to restore fatigue and ends up with the creation of chameleon and deadly poisons while swords and acrobatics become leathal, or train as an unarmed monk in hand to hand combat and healing. > COmpnay of Heroes
    Posted by ANZAC_RQQST3R - 09-15-07 07:41 - 0 comments
Company of Heroes is a visually stunning real time strategy game that depicts all the violent chaos of World War II with uncommon intensity. Set during the invasion of Normandy toward the end of the war, Company of Heroes takes its cues from Saving Private Ryan like when ur on the beach of omaha or when you need to defend the bridge.Well designed strategic and tactical combat like if u get shot at ur team members will A) take cover B)flank the enemy and C) if its a tank they sumtimes shit them selfs running for base. One of Company of heroes best features is its graphics you could zoom rite in till u can litterly see what ur soldiers are seeing our u can zoom rite out to see the destruction.

Provided you have a powerful enough system and graphics card to fully appreciate the visuals in Company of Heroes u will quickly be struck by the level of detail depicted in the game. Infantry move in teams, darting from cover to cover. They may be ordered to occupy any building on the map, and you'll see them shutter the doors and take aim out the windows. Vehicles are shown to scale, so tanks and other armored vehicles look big and imposing, and, indeed, they are. Infantry seem almost helpless against tanks, and you'll hear the men screaming as tank shells explode around them, sending bodies flying, while lucky survivors dive out of the way. Yet by attacking a tank's vulnerable sides and rear armor with explosives, it's possible to turn the tables on these lumbering threats...turning one of the most basic confrontations in Company of Heroes into a thrilling cat-and-mouse game, much more than a typical clash between a couple of RTS units. What's more, the battlefields themselves have at least as much character to them as the various infantry squads and vehicles as your disposal. The quaint French towns that are the set pieces of many of the game's skirmishes truly look as if a war was waged there once the battle is done, since buildings will catch fire and collapse, telephone lines will topple, blackened craters will appear in the wake of artillery blasts, and more. These changes aren't just cosmetic, either. Those blast craters provide cover for your men, while the ruined husks of blown-up tanks wi;; interfere with a machine gunner's line of fire.
One of my favourite features is u could blow the whole map up and the crater would neva eva go away.

The game focuses on the Allies invasion of German occupied Normandy in 1944 specifically on close-quarters skirmishes between infantry and armor Company of Heroes presents a number of novel twists to real-time strategy conventions but at heart this game works like other RTS games do, by putting you in charge of base construction, resource gathering, and tactical command of various military forces in an effort to defeat the opposition. The game includes a good sized single-player campaign spanning 15 mission, in which Able Company lands on Omaha Beach on D-Day, over runs a number of key towns and strategic points disrupts German supply lines and secret weapons and finally helps crush the remnants of the Nazi war machine in France. Its an exciting campaign tied together with cutscenes and mission briefings coming from a variety of voices, which creates a few threads that help tie the missions together. In addition to the campaign, you can play skirmish matches with up to seven computer-controlled players on a series of different maps, and you can also jump online into the proprietary Relic Online service to challenge other players in ranked and unranked matches. The Relic Online service is a cut above most similar offerings, and lets you easily find a ranked match against players of similar skill or host a match with your own custom settings.

Brief but compelling story sequences move the campaign along, which focuses on Able Company's attack against German-occupied Normandy.
Because of its limited scope of the Second World War, Company of Heroes has only the two playable factions, which it calls the Allies and the Axis but really they're the Americans and the Germans. In the campaign you always play as men from Able Company and you're always fighting the Germans. There isn't a separate campaign from the German perspective, though the Axis faction is fully playable in skirmish matches and online, and turns out to be fairly different from the Allies despite the basic similarities between the two sides' weaponry. In fact, in a strange departure from similar games, Company of Heroes always forces you to play Allies versus Axis, even in multiplayer matches. Matches with more than two players are always team-based, with one side as the Allies and the other as the Axis, and so forth. While the game's units and battlefields are unusually detailed, it's hard not to wish for additional playable factions and a greater variety of settings, especially given how well Company of Heroes handles the American and German sides.

The gameplay in Company of Heroes is all about frontline combat, and forces you to quickly explore the map. You typically start out with a headquarters and a squad of engineers, who can build structures and setup defenses. Maps are divided up into territories that all have a resource point in them, and the resources you'll need are manpower, munitions, and fuel. Infantry may capture neutral or enemy resource points, causing them to indefinitely contribute a flow of the given resource to your military efforts while also increasing the total number of units you can have in your army. However, all your territories must be connected for the resource flow to continue unabated; if an enemy takes a key territory, this may cut off your supply lines. All resources are used for building more-advanced structures and vehicles, but you only need manpower for basic infantry, who may use special abilities like hand grenades or armor-piercing machine gun rounds for a one-time cost of munitions. Munitions may also be spent to upgrade individual squads with special weapons, like recoilless rifles useful against enemy armor, or Browning automatic rifles that can suppress opposing squads. Your infantry squads are highly resourceful, acting as single units that can be effective down to the last man. They'll last much longer when attacking from behind cover, such as a row of sandbags or the bell tower of an abandoned church.

As much as there is to do on a strategic level in Company of Heroes, just managing the tactics of typical firefight can be really intense.
You have some very interesting options to consider, such as how, when faced with an antitank gun manned by a squad of three, you may attempt to destroy the thing altogether with heavy weapons, or flank the gun and kill its squad, taking the artillery piece for your own. Heavy machine guns and other special weapons work much the same way. One of the great things about Company of Heroes is that, in spite of its somewhat glamorized portrayal of World War II, the game looks and behaves realistically, in how the sorts of tactical maneuvers that are central to the gameplay feel intuitive in practice. For example, you'll naturally want to avoid making your infantry rush a machine gun nest head-on, especially since the withering fire from a German MG42 will force your squad to drop prone, pinned down and slow them down in thir movements and make them more vonerable to machinegun fire, another feature is the talking in the game its not like other rts games but if you have young kids 4-13 i wouldent recommend it due to alot of swearing. (god damn it comrade tie ur f**ken laces).

If you love your war games or RTS game i would definatly recommend this game..

    chaser

wont let me add any more screenys even in new reply so thats the only one but that is when it is completly zoomed in and thats wat they look like while they move around the graphics are outstanding

    > Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
    Posted by ANZAC_RQQST3R - 09-15-07 07:40 - 0 comments
What can I say, this game was released in 2003 so chances are you can run it. It's 3 years old so I guess it's a pretty old game. But the popularity of this free standalone downloadable game is so immense that a "sequel" is being made:- Quake Wars: Enemy Territory, the beta for that game should be out by the end of this year. As I was saying, this is a free standalone download. Enemy Territory was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to the popular FPS Return to Castle Wolfenstein. However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on May 29, 2003 as a free standalone game. Download here. Note all the pictures below are not the default settings for Wolf: ET but customised to my needs ie: As little graphic detail as possible.

This is the class and team selection panel in-game. As you can see there are 5 classes, left to right: Soldier, Medic, Engineer, Field Ops, Covert Ops. As you can see there are 3 teams, Axis, Allies and a Spectator "team".

As you can see, at the end of every map we get a campaign status, and stats for the entire map played. The "I Ain't Got No Friends Award" is awarded to people with the most tks in a game. As you can also see there are 6 official maps. On each map, the offense needs to complete a certain set of objectives within a limited amount of time. The defence needs to keep the offense from completing objectives until time runs out.

In-game there is also something called called a fireteam, a maximum of 6 players per fireteam. With fireteams you can see icons over the members indicating that they are on your team. This helps to lessen the chances of getting owned by a Covert Ops in disguise. You can also see the members hp and co-ordinates.

Here a covert ops has just killed me on the map Würzburg Radar and is going to steal my uniform after I have been gibbed. In disguise he will look exactly like me including my name. However there are ways to detect it, such as the gun the person is using, the lack of a fireteam icon or that you just saw the same person walk past you 3 seconds before or the fact that they have a different class by their name. For example I once saw someone dressed as a medic with the [S] icon next to their name, a key indicator that they were in disguise.

This is one of the locations in the map "Railgun". Currently I am in prone and with a small area for enemies to enter which makes it very easy for people to camp here and annihilate the axis coming in, especially when you can self-heal. It is hard to see but in this picture the ally coming at me is a covert ops because the gun he is holding is a Sten Mk II which is impossible to hold for someone of that class. You can also see an axis with a large red symbol above his head, this shows that it is an Ally Covert Ops in disguise and it's a good indication that you shouldn't shoot him.

With the pressing of the "Alt" button we can see your own stats for the map. You gain exp for doing certain things, one is Battle Sense, one is Light Weapons and one is your professions unique stat ie: Medics - First Aid, Soldiers - Heavy Weapons, Covert Ops - Covert Operations, Field Ops - Ammo/Airstrikes/Artillery Strikes, Engineer - Mines/Dynamite/Construction.

Players start off as a private (Allies) or Schutze (Axis). They can gain rank by leveling up in skills. The rankings are as follows:
    • Private First Class/Oberschütze: 1 level advancement in any skill
    • Corporal/Gefreiter: 2 levels advancements of the same skill
    • Sergeant/Feldwebel: 3 levels advancements of the same skill
    • Lieutenant/Leutnant: 4 levels advancements of the same skill (max)
    • Captain/Hauptmann: 2 fully developed skills (level 4)
    • Major: 3 fully developed skills
    • Colonel/Oberst: 4 fully developed skills (requires class change)
    • Brigadier General/ Generalmajor: 5 fully developed skills
    • Lieutenant General/ Generalleutnant: 6 Fully developed skills
    • General: 7 fully developed skills (all classes)

As you can see I have leveled up my First Aid skill and when I respawn I will spawn with 30/30 ammo, which means I have 60 shots instead of the initial 30/0. On the mini-map at the top right hand corner you can also see a red icon with a white strip in the middle, this is the revive icon and will lead me to teammates who are dead but not gibbed so that I can revive them. You can also see that the Allies have stolen one of the objectives required in that map.

Here you can see a soldier using a mortar. You can also see an ammo cartridge on the right side.

When you are dead you can also watch your teammates play.

Here you can see that I have just revived someone on my team: C3lt.

With the pressing of the tab button you can see the layout of the teams, ping, exp, awards and classes. The F next to "mettaur" means that on one map he won a "Best Medic" award. As you can see, "Art of War" has won best field ops in 5 maps.

All in all, if you're not sick and tired of WWII games yet or if you thoroughly enjoyed RtCW or the original Castle Wolfenstein then this is a must have. Especially considering it is a free standalone multiplayer game

Well, here is my game review for this month. Starwars Empire at War is a blend of rts and turn by turn strategy that takes place in the starwars universe. Pitting the republic against the empirial forces in space and on the surface of the planets. The games single player is deep and involved, with a good online mp strategy system that revolves around the creation of bases and units to do battle against your foes. Well worth a look, great cinematics, inticate game play and anyone who loves a good mp rts like aoe series will love Eaw.
